It happens all the time: We ask for something, and are refused.

In our source material, MY NAME IS LUCY BARTON by that doyenne of family friction, Elizabeth Strout, a woman (subtly) asks her mother for approval, and is (subtly) refused. But writing about maternal rejection isn't everyone's cuppa, so YOU can write from the point of view of Western Colorado’s land begging the sky for some rain, and being denied. Or a teenager waiting for a HEART emoji on her Facebook post, and getting only a thumb’s up.

I'll be with you every step of the way, offering suggested frames through which you can throw your narrative. (You can follow my directions to the letter, or ignore me completely. My aim is simply to keep you writing.)

WRITERS OF ALL GENRES AND LEVELS ARE WELCOME IN THIS CLASS!

We'll gather on Zoom Wed., May 14 from
