We'll gather at Wisehart Springs Inn, about a mile and a half from the center of tiny Paonia, Colorado, and write with a view that will drop your jaw.

We'll write our hearts out, with me prompting and supporting you every step of the way. All levels and genres are welcome. I'll use my tried and true technique of using great scenes from literature to create suggested frames through which you can pour your narrative, keep inspired and keep writing.

This workshop is generative -- meaning you come here to write, not polish or critique, and the themes will be nice, broad, and welcoming even to the rustiest writer.

We'll share what we've written, feast on homemade lunches, and have plenty of alone time to take walks in this beautiful valley, or even farther afield in the gorgeous Rocky Mountains.

COST: The $1,180 fee includes four lunches, dinner the first night, and a pair of two and a half hour writing/sharing sessions per day. It does not include breakfast, lodging, or your dinner on the second, third and fourth nights, which you can earsily find on your own among the fabulous eateries of a valley that’s so full of organic farms and great food that it’s been called THE AMERICAN PROVENCE.

But there's beautiful, reasonably-priced lodging right at Wisehart! There are three rooms at Wisehart; the ones with ensuite bathrooms are $160/night, and one with a shared bath for $120/night. (There's also a fridge and a full kitchen.) If you'd like to take advantage of this short commute, contact me directly.

Paonia has a plethora of bed and breakfasts and a couple of hotels to choose from. Wisehart lies 1.5 miles from the town center.

SCHEDULE: We'll meet for the first time when we gather for dinner at Wisehart at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 3. We likely won't write that evening, although I might have everyone pre-write an exercise they can read by way of introduction. Mostly we'll just get settled that first evening and talk about what's ahead. On Oct. 4, 5 & 6 we'll write and share for 4-5 hours a day (in two sessions, with lunch in between.) On the 7th, we'll have a short writing or sharing session (depending on the will of the group) prior to disbanding after lunch..

REFUNDS: The class fee acts like a ticket to a concert -- once you've bought it, it's yours. You can transfer it to someone else, but refunds are not available for any reason other than Lisa being sick/unable to teach.

I dearly hope you'll come; below, there's a view from Wisehart itself. The big photo to the left is of the extremely hikeable high country.

I mean, wow! xo ~ Lisa

HEALTH SAFETY: Participants need to agree to steer clear of the group if they're feeling ill, or if they test positive for Covid, flu, measles, or any other communicable disease. They also need to be willing to be tested if they're symptomatic during our time together. I want to keep everyone safe!
