Monday, March 3, 6-7:30 p.m. Mountain Time. Zoom.

Want to write a scene involving two characters? It could be as simple as you walking with your sister to the corner store when you were both five. It could be as complicated as you taking your dog, who's a peach at home but a known harasser of other dogs in the neighborhood, to the park.

Guided by the work of the masterful Kent Haruf, you'll be guided and supported at every turn. It's a really fun and easy way to tell yourself your own life story, write it for someone else, or delve into some fiction!

WRITERS OF ALL GENRES AND LEVELS ARE WELCOME IN THIS CLASS!

Instead of lecturing you on craft or leaving you alone with an empty page, I chunk down great scenes from literature to guide your writing. I'm with you every step of the way, offering suggested frames through which you can throw your narrative. (You can follow my directions to the letter, or ignore me completely. My aim is simply to keep you writing.)

Even though my students have different levels of experience, we’ve all been human long enough to know just what a glorious mess this life is. That glorious mess is the source of all good writing. It’s just a matter of jumping in. Join us!

We'll gather from

8-9:30 p.m. EASTERN

7-8:30 p.m. CENTRAL

6-7:30 p.m. MOUNTAIN

and 5-6:30 p.m. PACIFIC

Again, it's pay-as-you like. If you're broke, don't pay a dime--just put zeroes in the amount box below. If you're flush, bomb's away!

As soon as you register, you'll get a couple of emails with links to our reading and the Zoom link. Please read the (excellent, quite short) reading before we gather.

I hope to see you there!
